By Nelson Lee Novick Youve stared at your nose in the mirror for years wishing that something could be done to improve the bump on the bridge, eliminate the indentation in the middle, or raise up the tip. But, you could never gather up the courage or the money for a surgical nose job, what doctors call a rhinoplasty. Maybe you just could not bear the thought of a painful recovery or afford the added expense of the two-week downtime away from work. Now, with non-surgical rhinoplasty you may just be able to have your cake and eat it. Two state-of-the-art soft-tissue filler materials, Radiesse and Restylane, may be just the answer for you. Both are FDA-approved materials, and their safety has been well established in human use. Neither Radiesse, a synthetic bone-like material made up of calcium hyroxylapatite nor Restylane, a synthetically produced hyaluronic acid derivative, require pre-treatment allergy testing. Each has been injected successfully to correct certain nasal irregularities. The areas to be treated usually require a small amount of local anesthetic. The filler is then injected and molded into place to correct the deformity or irregularity. Treatment usually takes only a few minutes. Afterward, you may experience some redness, mild swelling, and tenderness, which may last one to two days. Occasionally, you may develop slight bruising that can last several days, but is easily coverable with makeup. For a drooping nasal tip, a very common occurrence with aging, tiny droplets of Botox Cosmetic, which has been used so successfully to treat the dynamic wrinkles of the face, may be given to the sides of the nose and to the tip directly to weaken those muscles responsible for pulling the nose downward and to allow others that draw the tip upward to do so unopposed. The net result is that the tip is repostitioned to a more youthful appearance. Re-treatment may be necessary every few months to maintain this improvement. The results with Radiesse may last twelve to eighteen months and those of Restylane for eight to twelve months before a touchup may be necessary. Your doctor will discuss with you whether non-surgical rhinoplasty is appropriate for you, the benefits of each agent, and the best agent or combination of injectables for your particular needs. Now what are you waiting for? Tips For Choosing Spring Wedding Favors
By Shaunta Pleasant Choosing the right spring wedding favors can be fun and exciting, and the right wedding favors are an important part of any wedding and wedding reception. With so many different kinds to choose from, choosing the perfect wedding favors for a spring wedding can be quite a challenge, and it pays to start shopping early. Shop Around To Find The Best Spring Wedding Favors Spring wedding favors are available from a wide variety of merchants, of course, including large party planning warehouses, small mom and pop stores, department stores and of course the internet. It is a good idea to shop around as much as possible any time you are in the market for wedding favors and other wedding supplies. Not only will shopping at a variety of different stores give you a good feel for what is available, but it will help you better compare prices and quality as well. Spring Wedding Favors Ideas There are of course many different gifts that could qualify as spring wedding favors. Some of the most popular wedding flowers for spring weddings are focused around gardening and the outdoors. Some wedding planners like to fill a beautiful vase with fresh or silk flowers, perhaps adding a couple of packets of flower seeds as well. This provides a great touch for the spring wedding. Of course spring wedding favors do not have to have a floral theme. Virtually any kind of gift can be adapted to a springtime wedding, from picture frames and trinket boxes to cameras and keepsake photo albums. It pays to be creative, and it also pays to look far and wide for wedding favor ideas. Using First Hand Information From Friends And Family Often the best source of ideas for great wedding favors is right in front of us. For instance, if a friend or family member has recently attended or hosted a wedding; ask them what kind of wedding favors they used. This kind of first hand information can be hard to beat. Using Bridal Magazines And Wedding Planning Guides In addition, there are plenty of spring wedding ideas lurking in the pages of those bridal magazines and wedding planning guides you may already have, so be sure to look there for some great ideas as well. No matter where you look, however, or what type of wedding favors you choose, it is important to shop early for the best selection and the best price. European Human Hair Wig - How Much Does It Really Cost?
By Franek Migaszewski I am sure you have wondered what the truth is about the prices of wigs made from European human hair. From shop to shop you will find a huge variation in prices, anywhere from 300 USD to as high as 10.000 USD (!). So let me take you through each step of the process of producing high quality handmade wigs, and show the real costs. Firstly, take the acquisition of hair. The cost of hair for one wig (0,2 0,4 kg) varies from 30 to 40 USD throughout most Eastern European countries. There is little variation there, but an important additional cost is incurred by high-quality wig-makers who collect hair in an appropriate and well-controlled way. The best wig-makers visit hairdressers and care for the hair themselves, using no middleman. They do not buy hair from wholesalers because wholesalers blend hair, because it is so time-consuming to acquire really good hair. One simply has to find a girl among hairdressers clients that has beautiful, healthy hair and who wants it cut. The hairdresser can offer a free service to such a girl and actually pay her for her hair - and clearly both sides benefit from such a transaction. But this shows that, by its very nature, acquisition of good-quality hair cannot be a simple large-scale automatic process. That explains why outside of Eastern Europe the price of acquiring good quality hair is skyrocketing - not because the hair in itself is expensive, but because of its rarity. It is difficult to imagine a large-scale cheap process of acquiring high quality human hair in European countries. Second, take the other materials used in making wigs. These are not expensive and their costs do not exceed 50 USD for a typical wig. These are the materials used to produce a cap. More and more wig-makers are now buying ready-made caps, so called "monofilament", which are gaining popularity and their cost is not very high. Third, take the labor involved in making high quality handmade wigs. This is the main cost factor. Handmade wig needs at least a week to be produced by an experienced expert worker. It takes a week of hard work, with each hair being knitted to the cap with a very small crochet-needle or glued with a special glue. In the case of long hair, the production time could be two to three weeks. Reliable wig-makers knit hair with a double-knot which makes the construction much more durable but needs some extra work-time. Depending on the type of wig, length of hair and type of cap the cost of labor is from 150 to 300 USD. Finally, you cannot forget other typical business costs like investments amortization, management costs, taxes, insurances, rent, and profit. Altogether, the price of a handmade human hair wig made from European hair cannot be lower than 500-600 USD even for the shortest hair. There is no upper limit and it only depends on how much a customer is willing to pay, but before you pay 1000 USD or more for your wig remember the real costs of its creation. And now for a real mystery. Why are European human hair wigs not made in China where labor costs are much lower than in Poland, Russia, or the Czech Republic? The main reason is no good quality European human hair available in large enough quantities to make profitable large-scale production in China possible. This is because wig-makers in Eastern European countries are buying all of the available hair for their own production. Surprising? -- but that is how it is. And that is why most of wigs produced in China are made of Asian hair or blended hair widely available on a wholesale market. Franek Migaszewski is co-founder and manager of Wiggywigs.com site, the first wig vendor from Eastern Europe selling human hair wigs directly to the western markets on the Internet. Why Organic?
By Pamela Cronan-Maddox Beauty is a glorious gift of nature. Homer What you put on your skin is absorbed through your skin. To be more precise, the skin absorbs approximately 60% of any substance applied to it. Hence the success of trans-dermal skin patches prescribed by physicians to deliver medications. Unfortunately, most of the skin care products mass produced for the market today, even those claiming to be `all natural and/or `botanically based products, contain harsh, toxic and even possibly carcinogenic ingredients that actually contribute to disorders of the skin and accelerate the aging process. There is a growing concern from consumers about the ingredients in the personal care products they use daily. In a recent study by the US General Accounting Office (GAO), 125 ingredients found in cosmetics are suspected of causing cancer. Twenty ingredients have been implicated in causing birth defects. Twenty ingredients may cause adverse neurological symptoms, such as headaches and convulsions. Most of these toxic chemicals are so inexpensive that they are used in extremely high concentrations in many personal care products. These toxic chemicals provide no benefits or nutrients to the skin. They are the inexpensive alternatives employed to achieve the feel or slip to the skin that occurs naturally using pure, nutritious, essential oils and vegetable oils. The chemicals used to replace the nutritious components are used in significant concentrations in most skin care products. Their only purpose is to increase the profit margins for the manufacturers. The health of the consumer is completely disregarded. The trend for natural products is growing because the educated consumer is now demanding these for face and body care. Making the decision to use only natural products is easy. Incorporating this decision into your everyday life becomes more difficult as you try to practice it. It is nearly impossible to find completely natural and organic personal care products on the commercial market. It is offensive to see large numbers of chemically laden personal care products lining the shelves of natural health and food markets. Marketed as Natural, these products contain harmful synthetic chemicals; however, few of us have the time to peruse the ingredient lists of our moisturizer, deodorant, body lotion and any of the other products we apply daily. We trust that the products sold in these natural health stores are safe for the entire family, and so we believe the advertised claims on the bottles of shampoo, lotion, facial care, etc. According to industry estimates, on any given day a consumer may use as many as 25 different cosmetics and personal care products containing more than 200 different chemical compounds. If a product claims to be organic and /or natural, its ingredients should be easily recognizable as natural components. Also, the ingredients should be listed in descending order with the most prominent factors listed first. Nature offers all that is needed for healthy, radiant and beautiful skin. In all things of nature there is something of the marvelous. Home Improvement Loans Borrowing To Invest In Your Home
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Joseph_Kenny]Joseph Kenny Most people consider it an advantage to be without debt. This is a conservative and very sensible policy to have. However, all the evidence shows that in the current financial environment people are more willing to borrow and get into debt than ever before. Debt levels have continued to grow over recent years and now stand at historically high levels. So the question that comes to mind is what is everyone spending their money on? Loan Terms The basic rule of borrowing is you match the loan with an appropriate purpose so that short term loans are spent on short term expenses, but long term loans are not. This makes sense as who wants to paying off a loan they spend on a two week loan for the next fifteen years. However, a house that you are going to grow old in is something that you should be more willing to give a long-term commitment to. Secured Home Improvement Loans Therefore, if you are thinking of taking out a home improvement loan, it may be of comfort to know that this is an expense that it is appropriate to secure against your home. Securing a loan against your home will mean that you can borrow far more than if the loan were unsecured, and also that the interest rates will be lower. Secured loans are among the best value and most attractive loans available on the market, especially for long terms and large amounts. Its an Investment! Just how many programs are aired on TV trying to get the nation to either improve their current home or sell the current home, move into some run down building site and renovate? With all the advice from these shows and the record profits of major DIY centres across the country show that we are always trying to make a better home for ourselves and emulate the professionals that we watch every day on TV. All for good reason though as another benefit of borrowing to carry out home improvements is that you will effectively will be investing the money. Home improvements can significantly increase the value of your home and in turn allow you to borrow even more money. If you are thinking of selling your home at some point in the near future than most likely, it will be money well spent as it will make your home easier to sell and could well fetch you a higher price. Financial Benefit But even if you are not selling your home, simply knowing that your home is worth more is a real financial benefit. It is something that can be borrowed against at any time and will increase in its value as the housing market increases. And it is one of the best types of investment you can make because you will be living in it, and enjoying it every day. Spending money on your home will keep the value stored up and will also allow you the extra utility of using it. This is one of the best reasons currently to borrow money. Just make sure you have a good contractor or builder. You may freely reprint this article as long as the author bio and live links are left intact. What Not to Do On a First Date
By Linnea Sheldon There are some things that everyone should remember when going out on a first date. Most of them seem pretty obvious, but with so many changes in the dating scene combined with the fast paced world we live in they can be easy to forget. Read through this list and refer back to it before any first date. We all know we could use a little reminder here and there. One of the most important (and obvious) things to remember on a first date is to be on time. I know it seems like common sense, but sometimes runs in our stockings, or uncooperative hair, or a really mesmerizing television show can set us back a little longer than we planned for. This is why its always important to give yourself a small window of time for circumstances beyond our control. Even if it means we have to drive around the block a few extra times at least well be making a good first impression. The next rule is to leave the cell phone off, or at least turn it to silent. Not even a peep or a vibration should come out of it during the entire date. Not only does it show the person you are out with that they are not important, it also signals that you may be a little self-centered and selfish, and that certainly isnt going to get you a second date. The only exceptions to the phone off rule are if you are waiting for an important phone call or you left the kids with a sitter (and by important we mean your best friends going into labor - important). If you are in a situation like this be sure to inform your date of it beforehand so he understands you will need to check your phone periodically. Another thing to remember on a first date is to allow for equal talk time. This may be hard to judge, but try practicing around friends or family first. You shouldnt be talking the entire time while you make your date listen to your ramblings. On the flip side you need to have something to say. If you stay quiet the entire time youre date will not only not have a chance to get to know you, but he may also feel uncomfortable because he is being forced to do all the talking. If you feel like you are doing a little too much talking try asking questions, let him tell you a little about himself, and never, ever over share or use him as a person to vent to. This brings up another important point. When asking questions be sure to not make your date feel like he is on an interview. Questions about work and family life are important when getting to know someone, but try to steer away from the serious questions and quizzing him about his life. Ask questions about what he enjoys doing in is free time, find something you have in common and discuss it, and never, never ask about past relationships! When some of us get nervous we have tendency to drink too much. This is another big dont. The last thing we want our date to remember about us is our ability to hold our liquor. Not to mention who knows what is gonna slip out when were under the influence. You probably want to remember the date too, so if you are going to drink be sure to keep yourself in control. It is very important to give a date your undivided attention when out with him. Dont be looking around the room, even if youre just being nosy. Your date may feel as if hes boring you, or you are looking for something better. Dont invite your friends out with you either, or take your date somewhere you know they will be. If you are on a date you should be paying attention to your date. If you bring him around a group of people he may feel unimportant, or he may get the impression that he is being judged or you cant think for yourself. Always meet in a public place for safety reasons, but if you are so uncomfortable with someone that you feel you need to bring a friend along then you should just call the whole thing off. What all of these tips are basically suggesting is that you need to be polite on your date. Pretend your mom is watching you, always say please and thank you, never make him feel uncomfortable, and dont be self-centered. This advice doesnt just apply to your date, but also to your waiter or waitress, the hostess, the bus boy, and anyone else you come in contact with. Perfect Wedding Venue - Having A ball In The Perfect Hall
By Daisy May So it`s over now those famous words have been spoken ending the perfect wedding service - I now pronounce you husband and wife. Then we have the perfect wedding dress on the bride as the solo photo shoot takes place while the perfect groom looks on with pride. Perfection ends with a perfectly organised Wedding Venue. If all your plans were carried out accordingly to your specific requirements of having the best of everything then there is no need to worry. The Wedding Venue where your reception is to take place is just as important as any other part of your wedding plans. The rave begins on the night of the wedding where guests party into the night and dance till dawn (depending on the venue) Gatherings can be large or small depending on your guest list so therefore the size of the Perfect Wedding Venue has to be carefully thought through. Ask friends and family for advice on local venue halls as they may have attended parties in the past which puts them in a position to answer your questions in general - like the size - seating capacity if any and what rules and regulations have to be adhered too.
Case the joint so as to speak if you go to view - your perfect wedding venue will have a feel about it that you are either happy with or not - go back a second time if need be. Don`t rush matters and take your time before making any decision. A wedding is a very important occasion so let us get it right from the beginning. Plans to find your Perfect Wedding Venue can take time so advanced planning is a necessary step. Twelve months before the marriage is to take place is when the search should begin. What you have to remember is there maybe other events going on at the same time as your wedding who may also be interested in the same building or hall that you have your eye on. So bear in mind the early bird catches the worm. Very important is the size so it is wise to consult the guest list before making any reservations. Your wedding venue will not be perfect if to small and if to big then that may incur unnecessary costs which could be put to another good use like more spending money for the honeymoon. It is understandable that precise numbers can not be given at the time of booking due to the fact that some guests may not be able to attend on the night - but it is best to go off approximates so that you don`t lose the venue though hesitation of uncertainty. If a live band is to play the music at your wedding venue then please do yourself a favour and check out the dance floor and stage size. Also it is vital to check the clubs rules on the music.
See if the venue you have booked can accommodate your guests with allotted parking areas. Your guests maybe travelling from out of town to attend the event. As with any venture when booking a hall for whatever the occasion - be sure to ask as many questions as possible. There maybe restrictions regarding music and closure times for particular areas where your perfect wedding venue is being held. Before sprucing up the hall with decorations highlighting the occasion remember to ask permission, check if the wedding hall will allow you to personalize the room by bringing along your own caterer, florist. There have been many upsets at weddings where the supposedly perfect wedding venue turned out not so perfect after all. But there you go not all of us are perfect when it comes to making the right decision so if in doubt get out and find someone who is more clued up on how to house hundreds of guest while they have a ball. Can Factoring Make You Money?
By Mark Little Simply put, factoring helps businesses meet their cash flow needs by providing immediate cash by using accounts receivable. Many people view factoring as a short-term stopgap to plug the working capital hole that inevitably presents itself in almost every growing business. Although factoring can many times help a business refresh its working capital in the midst of a cash crunch, it can actually be a highly profitable long-term strategy. With adequate cash flow, a business has the ability to not only avoid stoppages in business, but to increase customers and sales. Cash flow is the lifeblood of any business and with out it, regardless of profitability, a business can cease to exist. Also consider the fact that by factoring, debt is not shown on your financial statements. This reflects strong numbers and if you have the opportunity to sell your company, this can be attractive. Factoring is one of the few forms of financing that can support rapid growth in a business. As the receivables increase, so in turn does the funding, as long as your customers are credit worthy. Therefore, it stands to reason that by reducing working capital requirements, a company can more rapidly reach their long-term growth plans. The net effect is increased sales, increased production, and decreased stress. Factoring is typically more expensive than traditional financing, however, the cost of factoring is usually significantly less than the loss of net profits that would have otherwise been generated by the substantial growth that it supports. Ways to offset the cost of factoring if it applies to your industry is to use the positive cash flow and take early pay discounts from your vendors and also buy in bulk using volume discounts. These savings can be deducted from your factoring cost if not eliminate them completely. If you are turning down business due to the lack of capital, you need to explore the benefits that factoring can provide. It is a form of commercial finance that is very powerful and must not be over looked. Mark Little is President of Diversified Funding Services, Inc. He can be reached at 888-603-0055. Six Steps to Weight Loss Success
By Stephanie Griffin Your best chance for losing weight and keeping it off is to use a personalized weight loss plan. Researchers have found that most people who lose weight and keep it off have followed their own combination of rules, rather than following one standard diet. The idea is to create a healthy lifestyle that you can maintain by forming better habits. The following six steps will provide a solid framework for your own weight loss plan. Read it over and insert the specifics that best fit YOU and your lifestyle. 1. You need to begin with motivation and commitment to change. Put aside the wanting and wishing to lose weight. Make the decision to lose the weight and create a healthy life. Commit to doing your best and focus on what you will gain by losing weight. 2. You need support in some form. Seek out your supporters, request their help and let them know specifically what they can do to assist you. You may find support from a family member, friend or co-worker, but there are other sources for support, too. Do not despair if someone in your life doesnt jump forward with support for you. Ask others to join you, find a weight loss buddy online, or begin posting to a weight loss message board. My personal favorite: hire a life coach and have support focused entirely on wonderful you! 3. Journaling (or blogging), taking notes, keeping a food diary, even designing charts, are all great opportunities to see progress, patterns, and confront issues head-on. Personally, I kept a blog as I lost weight. At first I kept it as a personal journal, but I eventually opened it up to the public. It helped to keep me inspired knowing that others were reading and looking to me for support. I encourage you to choose the method that fits you best and do it as frequently or infrequently as you desire. Allow it to change as your needs or abilities change. 4. Keep it healthy by making good food choices. Dont follow fad diets, starvation diets, or allow yourself to be pulled in by the promise of quick and easy weight loss by pills and such. Your healthy diet should include whole grains, fruits, vegetables, beans, heart-healthy fats, lean meats (or soy), and at least eight glasses of water a day. 5. To lose weight you need to burn more calories than you take in. You do not have to jump into a big exercise program to do this. You can build extra movement into your daily routine. Take an extra trip up the stairs; park towards the back of the parking lot; walk around the mall before you actually begin shopping, get up and move during TV commercials When you are ready, you can begin more formal exercise. 6. Begin with baby steps and keep moving! Small steps allow you to move toward your goal in a steady manner. To get started, you may add one glass of water to your day, or exercise through one set of commercials. Dont worry if your steps seem very small. Touchdown Football Party
By Gail Leino Football is the all American sport. We watch it on Saturdays for college, pros all day on Sunday and Monday night and we spend Thursdays and Fridays covering school football events! Incorporate football into a celebration for a birthday, homecoming or special event. Send out invitations shaped like footballs. The party planning store will have those and other football motifs to choose from. Make your guests wear football jerseys of their favorite team whether it is pro, college or whatever. Face paint and other fanatical displays are optional. You can have the first game be who comes dressed with the most spirit. Come up with a prize for the person who has the most face paint on or the most original show of spirit. They are wearing a cheese head? Give them a gift certificate to a pizza shop. They are wearing a dress and heels and rooting for a pig team? Send them to a BBQ place. Have fun and be creative with the prizes. Football parties need food, especially if the TV will be on all day. Make the menu finger food that is easy to snack on all day without being refrigerated. Have guests bring their favorite bag of chips to share and you provide the dips. The football party can also include alcohol, but use with only age appropriate adults. Decorations can be minimal, since the focus will be on the game. Some wall hangings of your favorite teams or banners can add to the fun of the event. Mini-footballs to throw around at halftime can be fun too. All the paper products and favors can be found with the assistance of a party planner at a party supply store. They will be more than happy to assist you with all of your party needs! Mrs. Party... Gail Leino is the internet's leading authority on selecting the best possible party supplies, using proper etiquette and manners while also teaching organizational skills and fun facts. Introduction to Oil Painting Techniques
By Ralph Serpe Oil paint is an amazing versatile medium. It can be applied in a thick buttery fashion or thinned down to a watery consistency. This versatility opens the door to a number of different painting techniques. My personal preference is to begin my oil paintings by first sketching out the composition using acrylic paint or with water-soluble oil paints. The popular approach to oil painting is to thin the paint with turpentine to apply your initial layers. Turpentine is quite toxic and I prefer not to work with it. Acrylic or water-soluble oil paints can be thinned down with plain old water and are more pleasant to work with in my opinion. You can also begin your oil painting by first drawing out your composition. There are a few drawing mediums that work quite nicely with oil paints. My two favorites are vine charcoal and water-soluble pencils. I prefer vine charcoal because it doesn't smudge like other charcoals and it can be erased easier. Water-soluble pencils are wonderful because they can be applied like ordinary pencils and can be spread around like paint with a damp brush. If you are the impatient type, you may want to try your hand at the Alla Prima oil painting technique. The Alla Prima method is when you complete the painting in one sitting rather than paint in layers and wait for the paint to dry. Although I usually prefer to work out my paintings in layers, I occasionally enjoy this exciting and spontaneous approach to oil painting. If you are the careful, patient type of painter, you may be interested in working with the glazing technique. Glazing has lost popularity these days, partly because of the time needed to complete such a painting and it's difficulty, but the results are something truly unique to any other type of oil painting technique. The composition is first painted with an opaque monochrome underpainting, usually in shades of gray. After this initial underpainting is thoroughly dry, thin layers of transparent oil glazes are applied. Colors are not mixed directly but added in separate layers to get the desired color. If you are the adventurous type, put the brushes aside and try a set of painting or palette knives. You can achieve some very interesting results with knives that aren't possible with brushes. The oil paint can be spread on thickly and scraped off with ease. What I enjoy most about using knives is the tendency to not focus on the small details. I am forced to paint in a more relaxed fashion that creates an impressionist style painting. Get yourself a set of painting knives and try to complete an entire painting with just the knives. It's challenging at first if you are used to brushes, but it's an enjoyable exercise. Perhaps you would like your painting to have more body and texture. You could try the impasto painting technique and apply your paint in thick heavy strokes, leaving evidence of all those wonderfully artistic brush strokes. Take a look at a Van Gogh painting and you will see this technique in action. It's really no wonder why oil painting is such a popular choice for painters. There is so much to discover in oil painting. You will never get bored trying out all the wonderful tools, mediums and techniques. Self-Preservation Techniques For The Unemployed
By Virginia Bola, PsyD Looking for work can be difficult, frustrating, anxiety-provoking, and demeaning. There are few situations we encounter in life where we feel so powerless. Not only do we have a sense that we have little control over the outcome, but we also feel judged. We become objectified, presented like a colt at a yearling auction or a slave on the bidding block. We walk, we talk, we run around in circles, while the "buyers" look us over, discuss our finer points and weaknesses, and make their decision to buy or reject. We are keenly aware of the competition. There are performance pressures: 30 seconds to make a great first impression, 30 minutes to define ourselves as a person, as a worker, to present a lifetime of skills, experience and knowledge. We are acutely aware that every word we utter, every body squirm, every gesture, is being observed, assessed, recorded. Regardless of whether we really want the job or not, we want it to be offered as an affirmation that we have worth, that we count. If we attend interview after interview and receive no offers, the demoralization seeps into our subconscious, confirming our deeply defended but strongly entrenched suspicions that we are just "not good enough," that we don't "measure up," that we lack value. The longer we remain out of work, the more tattered our self-esteem becomes. We start to exhibit that desperate "deer in the headlights" look that makes the likelihood of being offered a position ever more remote. What can we do to halt this erosion of self-value? How can we survive the challenges of looking for work while keeping our self-confidence, self-value, and self-esteem intact? Here are three approaches you may find helpful: 1. Don't blame yourself. Economic difficulties, job migration, corporate downsizing, and employer relocation are social realities. Being laid off does not adversely reflect on your personal worth, your skills, your character, nor your value. "If I had been smarter, I'd have seen it coming" thinking leads to self-criticism and a sense that your current plight is somehow of your own making. Put the blame back where it belongs - on an economy that values profits above people and the short term bottom line over long term stability and steady growth. 2. Take time to appreciate yourself. Too often, unemployment carries not only financial pressures but leads to self-destructive thinking: I'm not able to support my family, I'm a loser, I'm not a man, I'm not the superwoman I planned, I don't contribute anything worthwhile to anybody, the world would be better off without me. Since we define so much of what we are by what we do, when we no longer have a title, we lose ourselves. Work, and the income it provides, is important but it is only a part of a whole life, reflecting only a portion of our character, our abilities, our worth. Take the time to remind yourself of your other life roles: husband/wife/significant other, parent, church member, community participant - any roles you play which are not directly related to work. Because you are not temporarily generating an income, and all that stands for, does not mean that you are not contributing significantly in many other areas: to your family, your friends, your community. While reminding yourself of your non-work personal value, make sure that your frustration with job search is not allowed to spill over and poison your other life roles. 3. Reclaim a sense of control. You may be powerless to ensure an appropriate job offer or line up employers who are champing at the bit to take you on, but you do have control over other aspects of your life. Exercising control over anything can re-assert your old balance and generate confidence in your ability to weather the storm. Set up a schedule for yourself which will give you control over your time and your activities, both job search and personal responsibilities, to avert the wasted energy of running in all directions without accomplishing anything. Examine your diet and exercise program and use your extra time to ensure that you are healthy and fit. Explore what the current stress is doing to your relationships and personal interactions and take the time to strengthen personal ties and sources of support, not drive them away in your misery. Review your household budget and identify ways to save, different patterns of spending, and priorities which can be changed. Yes, being unemployed can be humiliating and depressing and often leads to anxiety, fear, and a permanent sense of insecurity and self-doubt. Using the above and similar strategies can help you emerge from this temporary crisis stronger and with a deeper sense of self and your value, not just as a worker but as a human being. Virginia Bola operated a rehabilitation company for 20 years, developing innovative job search techniques for disabled workers, while serving as a respected Vocational Expert in Administrative, Civil and Workers' Compensation Courts. How You Can Help Children with Color Vision Deficiency
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Maureen_Cook] Maureen Cook On average about 4 per cent of children are affected by Color Vision Deficiency, or colorblindness, but within that average figure boys are color deficient in far greater numbers than girls. This is because the condition is carried through the mother on the X chromosome (females are XX). A woman who passes the gene on to her children will usually have normal vision. When she has children either her affected X chromosome or her normal X chromosome will be passed on. So, there is only a 50/50 chance the sons of carriers will inherit some form of color vision deficiency. Since males are XY, and the Y chromosome from the boy's father is not involved in passing on the condition, boys are affected much more than girls. For a girl to inherit colorblindness she must have two affected X chromosomes, one of which will have been passed on by her carrier mother and the other by her father who will have a color deficiency. A mother with color vision deficiency will pass on the condition to all her sons. The affected X chromosome alters the cone-like nerve cells in the retina at the back of the eye, which enable us to see colors by day and also to discriminate fine detail. Many parents unfamiliar with colorblindness, fear that their child has, as the term implies, a confusion in identifying very strong colors across the whole range of main colors. This is not the case, however. Two-thirds of children with Color Vision Deficiency will not be severely affected. The chemical within their red and green cones is subject to slight alteration only which causes these children to misidentify pale colors in the main. Strong colors become more of a problem under poor lighting conditions, when they become tired and if they have to name colors under pressure. Typical of this group of children is the misnaming of pale pink and light green as white, and giving alternative names to secondary shades. The remaining third of children will have the more severe form where one of the three (red, green and blue) chemicals found in the cone nerve cells is missing. In these instances, very strong primary colors are often confused but still only within a range of ten principal colors. Children with this degree of colorblindness will often draw using an alternative color scheme green hair or brown grass, for example. Testing your children early for color vision deficiency is important as it helps raise awareness of both parents and teachers to the problems that colorblind children are likely to face at school. It should be pointed out that online tests, while being easily accessible and useful, cannot replace a color vision test conducted by an eye care professional. Some parents become quite alarmed when their child fails to detect what to them seem obvious numbers, letters and symbols hidden in a circle of dots. Reassuringly, parents should be aware that there is no correspondence between these symbols and the real world. More reassuringly still, there is a number of strategies parents can employ to instil confidence in their child. With the right sort of encouragement, a child will not view his/her colorblindness as a liability, but simply as a characteristic unique to him/herself. Here are a few tips which will assist colorblind children gain self-assurance: Every thing is relative, they say. With a child who has color defects don't be quick to correct color misnaming. Let the family know that the child correctly identifies what he or she perceives, and that everyone accepts these differences in color perception. Wherever possible use denotative, rather than connotative, attributes to aid color perception. Traffic lights are a good example of the first and caution lights the second. In other words, make color a secondary attribute of the object which should be identified by its pattern, shape texture, etc. Color Vision Deficiency apart, children have very different ideas than parents when it comes to choosing clothes. Their peers or siblings can often help them avoid glaring color mismatches which they, too, are anxious to avoid. Teachers should be informed so that they can also employ denotative color codings and modify the tasks they set. Distinguishing colors on diagrams and maps, or putting toys away by color can be a real problem as can peer teasing if the teacher does not lead by example and accept the child's own color perception. Timely preparation to help the child adjust to restrictions in occupation choice is advisable. There is a long list of occupations where color-critical decisions have to be made and where stringent entry restrictions apply police officers, most pilots, printers, chemists and designers to name but a few. However, no false ceiling should be placed on a child's aspirations if he or she is one of the 2/3 majority with relatively mild color vision deficiency. Research into potential occupations is advisable when the child starts middle school. Children with inherited color defects cannot change their perception of the world. It is often parents' and teachers' perceptions of the colorblind child which needs to change. 2006 Maureen P Cook

Ring Tones For Mobile Phones, Are They The Future?
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Mark_Hirst]Mark Hirst Thanks to more memory on phones and the ability to copy full tracks from your PC directly onto your phone and use it as a music player, the idea of buying a short snippet of a track as a ring tone has fallen out of favour with many users, although there is still plenty of demand for amusing or unusual ring tones that allow you to personalise your phone to match your taste. The reason why ring tones took off in the first place was that they offered mobile phone owners the chance to download a piece of music or a comedy snippet that made it easy to identify which phone was theirs, and avoid confusion. It was also an opportunity to make a statement about personal taste, and show the world around you what kind of a person you were. Perhaps the most popular ring tone ever was the Crazy Frog, which spawned an entire album of music, as well as numerous games and even childrens toys. It was immensely popular because at the time it was the most unusual product on the market, and offered people something that they had never had before. However, Crazy Frog became something of a victim of its own success. People quickly grew tired of the tone, and found that it was an ever present source of irritation in their life. At one time, it is thought that almost a quarter of all phones in the UK had that particular ring tone available on them. While the Crazy Frog may have been the end of the mass ring tone phenomenon, it gave birth to a new world of personalisation. Many artists released their music and comedy for use as ring tones, and this has led to a much wider variety of things being available to really suit all tastes when it comes to the type of music that people want to add to their phone and then use as a text message alert or ring tone. As well as having access to entire songs in MP3 format through their music collection it is now possible to find almost any piece of music in a special ring tone format that has been trimmed down to only include the most immediately obvious part of the music. People no longer need to download ring tones, as there are alternatives available, however for sheer convenience, and value, they still make sense when it comes to personalising your mobile phone. Choosing the Best Sites for Your Wedding and Reception
By Rose L The perfect wedding day has been pictured in your mind and dreams almost your entire lifetime. If you're like most, you may already have a vivid picture of how you want your wedding and reception to look even down to the last detail such as which flowers are going to be included in your flower arrangements and decor. But did your daydreams and imaginings include where you want to the sacred event to take place and where you are going to celebrate your union with family and friends? If not, there are a few things to keep in mind when selecting the perfect spot to hold your wedding and reception: budget, amount of guests, theme and type of wedding, and whether or not you want your ceremony and reception at the same location. Let's start with the budget first. By keeping in mind your budget throughout the whole decision making process, you can prevent heartache in the end. Suppose you found the perfect dream wedding spot only to learn that you could not possibly afford to hold your wedding there? Likely if you chose to have your ceremony in any other spot it would pale in comparison and be a disappointment when compared with the one you couldn't swing. On the other hand, what if you threw caution to the wind and indulged in the more expensive site? In this case, you might become bitter about your wedding day when the bills start to pile up or when you have to forgo your honeymoon to cover the costs. These two scenarios illustrate why it is very important to evaluate the cost before investigating any particular wedding or reception site. If it's over your budget, don't even look at it. Your theme and type of wedding are also very important when choosing the perfect spot for your wedding nuptials. If you are having an informal country wedding, it would not make much sense to book an elaborate reception hall. A better choice may be to have an outdoor reception on a farm complete with a bonfire, country band, and wagon rides for the little ones. If you're just looking for a little inspiration and a list of great wedding sites to investigate, your local chamber of commerce can supply you with sites, historical and modern, that can be rented for functions such as weddings. This may be a great help when you're trying to find a spot for your wedding that is unique and truly reflects your personality. Remember, it's your wedding and your dreams. Do not give in to family pressure or be tempted to take the first place that comes along. Do your homework and you will be guaranteed to realize the wedding of your dreams. By Rose Lenk

Symptoms Of Black Mold Learn What To Look For
By Peter Crump Symptoms of black mold in your home can manifest themselves in many different ways. You do need to know what these symptoms are so you can be cognizant of anything occurring in your home that could lead to a build up of black mold. This form of mold is very toxic and can cause mild allergies as well as serious medical conditions. When you know what the symptoms of black mold are, then you know what to look for. You can be on the lookout for symptoms of black mold if there is a high level of humidity in your home. If the humidity is higher than 55%, then this is the prime condition for the development of black mold symptoms. The thing that you need to be most aware of is that you may not even realize that there is black or toxic mold in your home until someone starts to get sick. Even then the symptoms may be so much like a sinus infection or asthma, that you might not associate them with toxic mold symptoms. Since the basement is the place where most of the water pipes in a home are located, the condensation on these pipes often goes undetected for long periods of time. In fact you may never realize that there are symptoms of black mold present if you dont have a problem with the pipes. When leaks are discovered, many homeowners concentrate on fixing the leaks and dont realize they are toxic mold symptoms and therefore do nothing about the black mold itself. Odors or musty smells are often the first symptoms of black mold. This is because black mold grows in places that are not usually visible or in places that you cant get to for cleaning, such as in cracks and crevices. Getting an odor does not necessarily mean you have toxic mold in your home, but it is definitely one of the symptoms that can alert you to the need for black mold testing. If the odors are present when the air-conditioning system is running, then these are serious toxic mold symptoms. Yellowish stains on the walls are also symptoms of black mold. Black mold has a greenish color to it and when you notice the wall starting to stain underneath the wallpaper or coming through the paint, this is a symptom that you do have a serious mold problem. Toxic mold symptoms can also manifest themselves as the paint coming off the walls because of the excess moisture. One way you can find out if you do have black mold in the walls is to shine a black light on it. If you see a yellow glow, this is one of the symptoms of black mold in the wall.
